12 Reasons Why Obama Is The Nominee

Posted by Koolaid on Oct 7, 2008 in Barack Obama, Elections 2008, Featured, PoliticsNo comments

1. President George Bush - This terrible neocon presidency is what created an opportunity for democrats to accept such an unconventional, and let’s be serious, quite liberal-like democrat. (Probably the same for McCain, since his party always saw him as a “liberal”).

2. Iraq - Obama was never for it, while Clinton voted for it and never apologized for her vote.

3. Change - Because of Iraq and the terrible bush presidency and quite honestly his race, Barack Obama was able to own this theme and inspire people who felt like the country was on the wrong track.

4. Fundraising - The theme of change and the ability to inspire also enabled him to inspire donations.

5. Community Organizer - Barack’s campaign is based around community organizing and volunteering. He set up a remarkable online and ground game that allowed him to get out his message to so many new people.

6. Newly Registered Voters - His inspiring rhetoric plus his amazing ground game allowed him to register 10s of thousands of new voters and get them to the polls.

7. Young People and African Americans - Most of these newly registered and highly inspired voters were young people and african americans. They supercharged his share of the votes.

8. Iowa - Winning this 95% white state, especially while putting Clinton in 3rd, showed that this black candidate was a serious contender. He was no longer a gimmick.

9. Obama’s Tight Lipped and Well Staged Campaign - no drama was the motto. Very few higher ups in the campaign were ever off message and they were amazing at being tight lipped with very little gaffes. Furthermore, his speeches were well staged, good places, large crowds. Makes for a good picture.

10. His Speech On Race - Rev. Wright created a nose dive in the polls for Obama. He was looking like the scary militant liberal black guy that too much of America is scared of. He came out and gave one of the best speeches on race since Dr. King’s “I have a Dream.” It conveyed to the public exactly why they should stick with him.

11. President Bill Clinton - Although there is no doubt that Hillary owes a lot of her career to Bill, he made a few painful gaffes. He helped alienate the black vote (which was initially in Clinton’s favor) with his Jesse Jackson statement in South Carolina and he started to look delusional and desperate as he supported her down the road. Plus it helped Obama run against the “Old Politics” that he was going to “Change.”

12. Clinton’s Horribly Run Campaign - Her advisers ran her as experience, the incumbent, the old politics, when the country wanted change. There was 2 major shakeups of top operatives during the campaign. Penn thought that California’s delegates followed the Republican winner take all rules, when California didn’t. She refused to apologize on her Iraq vote and she didn’t have a strategy past Super Tuesday. It was the primaries and Caucasus after Super Tuesday where he pulled ahead because she had no infrastructure in those states. She wasn’t ready for anything but a landslide coronation.
